HIM 2021 Thursday Workshop 4: Hard Wired for Connection

Jeff Schulte • Hard Wired for Connection
The greatest need we have as human beings is “to matter and belong” — apart from how we perform. We need connection, attachment, and relationship. Everything in us and everything we do (legitimate and illegitimate) is in some way an attempt to make this “connection.” Why is it so hard for us to embrace the grace of God? Where did this thing come from inside of us that thinks we need to perform or behave a certain way to be loved? What are the origins of our universal fear of rejection and co-dependence? This session addresses these questions and more from a biblical, theological, social, and neurobiological perspective. Strap yourself in and get ready to drink from a fire hydrant.
