Thank you for attending!

John Mark Comer, author and pastor, to talks about the thoughts and practices behind his ebook We Don’t Know What’s Going to Happen and That’s Okay: Living in Holy Uncertainty. With COVID-19 cases rising and falling and rising again, so much of life feels tenuous. When will we return to “normal”? What will that look like and will I be okay with it? When can I start counting on the plans I’ve made? How do I pray confidently if I don’t know the possibilities? Questions like these constantly run in the backgrounds of our minds. John Mark helps us reframe our questions so we can accept Jesus’ invitation into a holy uncertainty used by God to form us into people of faith, hope and love.

Meet John Mark Comer

Presenter: Jeff Schulte

I live in Portland, OR, with my wife Tammy and our three kids. Portland is this great city in the Pacific Northwest buzzing with culture - food, drink, coffee, indie bands, and lots of depressed people. I love it.

I'm the pastor for teaching and vision at Bridgetown Church, right in the center of the city (by Powell's Books if you've ever been to Portland). Our church is built around the very simple idea of practicing the way of Jesus, together, in Portland. We believe that the way of Jesus is exactly that, a way of life.

I'm also the author of a few books; My Name is HopeLoveologyGarden CityGod has a Nameand The Ruthless Elimination of Hurry.

As for education, I have a Masters Degree in Biblical and Theological Studies from Western Seminary, and am currently at work on a Doctorate in Spiritual Formation through Fuller Seminary and the Dallas Willard Center.

If any of the stuff on this site is helpful to you, great. My life's ambition is to be with Jesus, become like him, and do what he did. My prayer is that the stuff I make helps you do the same.

We’re all living through the transition from a pre- to post-COVID world. It’s a time of great uncertainty, not just with the virus, but with the economy, politics, and the future of democracy itself no longer being an assumption. But transitions like the one we’re living through can be extraordinary times for growth. -John Mark Comer
