Thursday prayer night for Maui

HIM Family,

Hawaiian Islands Ministries (HIM) is calling our brothers and sisters from all churches to come together to pray for Maui this Thursday, August 17, 6:30pm to 8:00pm. Join us in person on O'ahu at First Presbyterian Church at Ko’olau in Kane‘ohe. Or take part virtually by signing onto our livestream.

We will pray for God’s intercession, wisdom, and endurance. It’s great that many of us are already giving money and volunteering time for Maui. But in addition to that, having a focused concert of prayer is key and strategic right now. We need the Lord’s leading and comfort and strength for Maui especially, as well as for us.

Years ago, HIM called the church together in response to the 9-11 tragedy. 5,000 showed up to pray. Once again we are calling the family of the Lord together. We pray that every church or Christian nonprofit will send someone to join us. We will see our friends. We will pray. We will be unified.

The night will be a time of lamentation, as often expressed by the Psalmists, and also a time of thanksgiving for the first responders, and also a cry for help to our Lord. It’s a plea for renewal, revival, and restoration.

Come join us for a night of worship, prayer, and solidarity. It is our statement to Maui that “we stand with you.” We meet on the night before Statehood Day. We are connected.

May all of Hawaiʻi know that the body of Christ cares.
