highllghted HIM’s efforts in helping pastors deal with the challenges of
ministry. This followed HIM’s Honolulu 2006 Pastors/Spouses preconference
session in which Pastor Wayne Cordeiro of New Hope Christian Fellowship, Pastor
Ralph Moore of Hope Chapel Kaneohe, and Dan Chun (HIM founder/pastor of 1st Presbyterian
Church of Honolulu) talked about their experiences with burnout, how to prevent
it, and steps in recovering. Read

HIM and the Church in China
HIM founders Dan and Pam traveled to Asia this summer, where they visited
with The Rev. Cao Shengjie, president of the China Christian Council (CCC).
Rev. Cao, along with Sharon Xie, Secretary of Overseas Relations
of the Shanghai China Christian Council, and The Rev. Guo (Anthony) Feng,
hosted Dan, Pam and their family at a delightful dinner in Shanghai. This
was the Chuns’ third visit in China with the CCC, with the goal of
building bridges with fellow believers in China. HIM hopes to host Rev.
Cao here in Hawaii in the near future. She is a delightful, energetic,
loving sister in Christ. [photo top left]
Earlier this year at Honolulu 2006, Rev. Guo and Ms. Xie were in the China delegation
attending Honolulu 2006. Rev. Mei Kanjun, Executive Assoc. General
Secretary of the National Committee of the Three-Self Patriotic Movement of the
Protestant Churches led the delegation of pastors and ministry workers, which
also included Rev. Li Younghong, General Secretary of Beijing Christian Council,
pastor of Shi Kou Church in Beijing, China, and seminary professor at Yenching
Seminary and Rev. Wang (Holly) Hong, Vice President of Shaanxi Bible School in
Xian, China. They also did a panel presentation at Honolulu 2006 about the registered
church in China. [photo middle left]
The Japan Connection
In Tokyo, Dan and Pam were invited by Koji Yamazaki to join one of his Christian
small groups for Japanese business people. They talked about the challenges of
our pluralistic society, the need for reconciliation among cultures and people,
and the role that our beliefs and faith in Jesus Christ can play in advancing
peace in our world. [photo bottom left]
